I haven't heard much news from NAB on the switcher front. Besides the Sony announcement of support for 1080p, were there any other announcements?

I looked at the Grass Valley website the other day and saw that the Kalypso was still listed. I assume that its not been replaced by a 4M/E Kayak?

The rumor mill wasn't very active this year either.

Also; what are the thoughts on the new clip player from Abekas? I like that it has a redundant disk array as opposed to what the previous product had.

I didn't make it to the show this year. That money went into a new RAID array for my editing system. :) Perhaps next year, or maybe Siggraph.
It's a Kayak with a new control panel
It's supposedly a new Kayak panel (Kayanne) with "software" designed to overlay the DD software and be more Kalypso like in operation and programming! We'll see if they can deliver it!

Heard a rumor that GVG is showing the "Kalypso II" at NAB this year. Supposedly it's the Kayak re-packaged w/ new software? Anyone know the facts?

Hmm, the Abekas box, is the market the Profile buyers or the ClipStore buyers? Can you network data from one frame to another? I have to check to see what we would gain by upgrading the 8000 Comcast owns, since it is an original frame. I gather non of the frame memory enhancements will be available. Oh well... * I screwed myself up, I forgot about the dates until AFTER I was booked for baseball and I then couldn't get out of it.
