Ok, we run bit of a weird setup, our switcher is split up between 3 panels, so after doing the main panel and all the switcher, DCU, etc, moved to the other two control panels to update their menu/panel settings.

However, on one of them, I don?t know what I did, but when I rebooted the SCU, nothing came up, and it looked like it was kicked off of the device network. (PNL 2 no longer showed up on a Network config? auto config function. Also, all the ethernet connections are good, including the little one that usually gets unplugged when I stick my hands into the rack.

I know it worked after upgrading the menu (section 4.3 [Installing Menu Software, and Re-Setting the Network Configuration] of the instructions/release notes) because it rebooted fine before moving on to section 4.5 (Installing the Panel Software).

I don?t know which, but I must?ve done one of two things.

1 ? skipped the second step:

?(2) Move the cursor to PNL1 and press [Custom] of Start Up mode and press [Factory] of Setup in this order.?
- Skipping this would?ve left setup in [User] mode

2 ? Instead of powering off the SCU at the end of the instructions (step #9), I rebooted the panel and menu. I know I did this one, but not sure if this was the culprit.

On reboot, the Menu selection comes up under Eng. Setup>System> Install, but nothing else does. Is there a way to boot from a flash card so that I could reinstall my old settings and restart?

>>Is the panel software version and the way the panels are configured the same across all 3 panels? Yes... I was updating all three when this happened... Other two were fine... >>Can you see the missing panel on the other 2 panels? No, Network Config doesn't show PNL2 (the missing one) at all... >>Have you tried reinstalling the panel software on the busted panel? I can't get it to be recognized as hooked up to the switcher when I reboot, even though the network cables are all good and plugged in. Its like the Panel and SCU aren't even attached. >>Since you're splitting 1 switcher (I assume it's at least a 3M/E 8k) across 3 panels, are you sure you have the >>right M/E's assigned to the right panels? i.e. M/E 1 is assigned to panel 1, M/E 2 is assigned to panel 2, M/E 3 >>is assigned to panel 3.... Thanks again for the help guys, trouble shooting the problem that started all this was from information gathered over the last few months of reading posts. The original problem was solved rather quickly, but then this one popped up.

Have you tried reinstalling the panel software on the busted panel? Since you're splitting 1 switcher (I assume it's at least a 3M/E 8k) across 3 panels, are you sure you have the right M/E's assigned to the right panels? i.e. M/E 1 is assigned to panel 1, M/E 2 is assigned to panel 2, M/E 3 is assigned to panel 3.... We run a similar setup in my plant and it's a total nightmare to fix when things go wrong. Thanks, Allan

Sorry, reread it and realized I forgot something important. I was upgrading the MVS-8000 from version 3.1 to 5.42 because of a power hit we took and losing a board. Replacement board was at version 5.1, while we were still at 3.1.
