Hi all,

I'm enjoying using v 15.0.0 wherever I find it, but am lately finding myself on trucks with Kalypso Classics, hence v 14.0.1.

Is it possible to install both versions of Menu on PC on one laptop? Every time I run the installer, the newly-installed version overwrites the version currently on my laptop.

Thanks!
-Steve

Smarty, I never did get multiple installations to work. I just keep the install files handy, and when I walk into a truck and see what version that particular system is running, I just install the correct version for that day/show. I didn't have the time or inclination to investigate any further or escalate to TGV engineering.
Here's a way to make sure a menu version switch sets everything up properly: Create a folder on your laptop for each version you wish to use. Name these folders something like Kalypso menu 910, Kalypso menu 7622, etc. Copy the main setup.exe, the MenuPanel and MenuOnPc folders from the install CD to the appropriate folder. Launch the setup.exe for the version you wish to use, accept the license agreement, select Menu on PC and proceed with installation. This process insures that the correct DLLs are installed and registered properly. The process takes less than a minute.
I have tryed this, and 15.0 still loads on top of and replacing 14.1. What am I doing wrong? Is there a step missing in the process? Do I unistall the verision I want to use before I install the other one?
Update: Hmmm, not quite as simple as the TGV KB makes it seem. Regardless of where the setup.exe files reside, the app and DLLs still install directly into C:Program FilesKalypsoMenu. For now, Seth's answer seems to be the easiest workaround. More investigation ahead... :-)
Hmm, that's odd....TGV's suggestion worked first try for me.

Thanks, all -- especially Lou! I should have thought to search TGV's KB...but, of course, it's just instinct to come straight to EditSuite instead :-) Have a great day everyone, -Steve

TGV addressed this on their website's knowledge base, and I too have used it with great success going between 15.0 and 14.1: Many Operators run their Own Lap Top PC's for the Kalypso Menu Application. As they move from truck to truck , system to system they are often faced with having a version on their PC at odds with the installed version on Kalypso. It has always been recommended to keep the PC Menu app at the same version as the Kalypso. Otherwise, communications issue or a frame crash could occur. Engineering makes the following recommendations for properly changing between versions when using the menu app on the PC. This was also included in the post, but is really a separate issue (separate FAQ): If you ever mess up and install the menu box version of a Kalypso or Zodiak menu app on your laptop (or run the installer from the MenuPanel folder), simply reinstall Menu On PC, then you'll be able to uninstall from the Add/Remove Programs control panel. The only difference between installing the menu application on a menu box or a laptop is whether or not an uninstaller is provided. You must install from the main installer and select Menu on PC in order to get a version that will uninstall.

Steve: Just keep multiple versions of the MenuOnPC install file on your laptop. Install the appropriate version whenever you need to make a switch. You don't need to uninstall first, so the process is very quick. I do this on a regular basis (XP) without any problems. The Still Store Loader and Image Manager can co-exist, so I have both active and just use the appropriate application for the version. Seth

What about having separate user accounts on the laptop? Yes, It would be a pain with web browser bookmarks and other files.
