I have been cursing the Kayak manual for not giving basic instructions, so I am here to see if anyone knows the answer to this question: how do you attach macros to specific buttons? I can make a macro by either using the Make Macro on the Aux bus or by using the keypad to put it in specific macro register, but I cannot figure out how to attach that macro to any button or buttons I want. I go to the Sidepanel and no help there either. It just shows I have created multiple macros but 0 macros attached. Can anyone help walk me through what I thought would be a rather simple process?

Actually Kayak has two options with regard to Macros in timelines - Trigger and Insert. 1. You can use the timeline to trigger and recall a Macro number. So that for instance if you want it to recall Macro 7 it will recall what ever you have created in macro 7. 2. You can insert a macro in a timeline. In this way the content of the Macro becomes part of the E-MEM. You don't need to keep a one off macro if it's already in your E-MEM. In this case, insert Macro 7 into the E-MEM and then you can use Macro 7 for something else.

When you are editing a timeline you can Insert a macro into the timeline in the TiMemo editing menu. Make and label your macros. When you insert a macro in the timeline it will call up your list and you pick the one you want and select OK. It is now in the timeline. Happy punching! Scott

Does Kayak allow for EMEM recall of Macros in a timeline similar to Kalypso? Or is the emem/timeline concept so radically different on Kayak that it's not an option?

What version of the manual are you looking at? In versions V691 and later of the User manual, Macro Attachment is fully described on page 94.

Dan, thanks for that reminder. rather poor concept in this day that the mode is switcher wide, rather then individual like on a Kalypso.

Also, make sure you have set up Post, Pre, or Macro Only in the prefs... I can't remember where that is, I think in Personality or something like that... which ever mode you choose, it become switcher wide with all Applications, unless you change for each user. --- Dan

Hold down the macro you want to copy, then hold down the button you want to attach to. Wait until the swicther beeps and you are no longer up a creek without a kayak. Scott
