Hi again,

We are wanting to import an animation into our 8000g frame store, running version 7.22. What format to the files need to be in for this to work. I know you can import stills as .tif and .bmp. would a clip just be a sequence of these stills or can I import a movie and let the switcher convert it???

sorry for all the questions as of late

Thanks again,

Michael
Well I did a factory reset of everything, and then tried to load in files and still nothing. I am beginning to think when we were upgraded to 7.22 something didn't quite work right.........
I just noticed that in one of the previous posts you mentioned that the USB drive wasn't recognized by the switcher? I seem to remember that one of the 'enhancements' for 7.2x was the feature of not having to go to the Engineering Menu and refresh your USB driver, and mount your drive as 'primary'. By any chance did you try to "old school' it, and try to locate your USB drive manually to see if that would work? We're still on 7.11 ... I've read about 7.22, but we haven't forged ahead with the upgrade yet. Matt

You can try a factory reset of the whole system, but when this has happened to me, I first reset the panel - if that doesn't work then I reset the frame.

Thanks Bob, I now seem to have another problem that you might be able to address. Our switcher was installed about 3 weeks ago and came with version 7.10. I was able to load .tiff files from my usb stick onto the frame memory. We have since upgraded to version 7.22 and now I am unable to load anything or save anything onto a usb device. I can mount it and see the files on the stick but when I click import it will stay at 0% forever. I have tried multiple sticks and also powered down the SCU and rebooted the panel. Nothing seems to work. I wonder if this is a version 7.22 issue and would a factory reset solve the problem? Michael

If you import multiple files, the system can make them into a CLIP - or you can manually create an animation out of them. I have been doing a lot of After Effects lately & I import the animations as a series of TIFF's (Video + Key) into the switcher (I build the effects on my computer at home & bring them into the studio). What I have found is this: Create the TIFF's (or bmp's or tga's) in a sequence...the switcher likes the format of 3 letters followed by 5 numbers (eg. abc00015, abc00016, etc.). If you build it this way, when you import them into the switcher it will chain all of the stills with the similar letters in the order of the numbers into a CLIP. If you are importing TIFFs or TGA's that have an alpha channel, the switcher automatically imports both the video & key sides, turning them into main & sub images.
