3-box Fly problem

This is on an 8k with no resizers running 7.22. I have a 3-box which uses 3 DME channels with an image keyed over that's got holes cut out. I want to fly one of the boxes full. For our 2-box, I simply used a Key Priority change once I run the effect to fly full. That won't work with the 3-box because all 3 DME channels use the same keyer. For some reason, the switcher won't let me place each DME box on a separate keyer. I've contemplated using the combiner, but that would mean placing the image with the holes cut out (what do I call this???) in a DME and burning resources. Is there any other way I can make this effect work?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Bob, for that information. Unfortunately, I'm working on an 8000A and the DEPTH option is grayed out.

If you're using DME channels tied to keyers on a 1-to-1 basis, then you are limited to 2 DME paths per M/E. Using the combiner, then you can put up to 4 DME channels onto one keyer. To do a 3-box effect, there's no reason that you can't use the 1 keyer like you're doing - except that if they're internal channels then the same hole-cutter will go to all combined channels (unless you turn off the keyer in the other 2 channels or clip them out to be full-screen). You can do a couple of things to affect the blow-outs: (A) Have a different DME effect for each box that you want to blow out with the priority changing based on which box does the blow (Maybe 1 effect to set up the 3 boxes, then 3 other effects to blow out the box you want). (B) Have 1 effect that has the following keyframes - 1. All 3 boxes / 2. Box 1 blow out / 3. All 3 boxes / 4. Box 2 blow out / 5. All 3 boxes / 6. Box 3 blow out / 7. All 3 boxes Build this effect using S-Linear moves & LOC XYZ (not LOC SIZE) and put the combiner in DEPTH mode. In this way, whichever box comes forward will automatically have priority. I'd put pauses on all KF's except #1. Then I'd recall the effect to get the 3-box set up. Hitting RUN will bring the 1st box full, and RUN again will get you back to the 3-box. I'd also build 3 macros...each macro would do a GOTO KF 1 or 3 or 5 & then hit RUN. In this way one effect can be used to set up your 3-box, and bring any box forward. The DEPTH mode will solve your priority issues & you'd be able to jump back & forth between boxes all day long with just 1 effect.
