Hey all,
I'm trying to get the VDCP settings to work with a Doremi that we just got.. Files are loaded into it and triggering it through the switcher in vtr/ddr mode works fine..  In eng setup i switched the correct port # from ddr to VDCP.. I then, in the DEVice menu,  hit the file list button and then update file list and here' s where my problem is. It wont display the files that are on the Doremi, and instead comes up as saying "not connected"..
Is there some other switcher menu setting that i have to change ? or do ya think that its a problem on the Doremi end.?
If anyone has any ideas, id totaly appreciate!!.. thanks !
Mike

GOT IT... thanks everyone for your help.. I had the wrong video port setting.. Had to change it from 0-1.... How i missed that i have no idea.. Appreciate all your help..
The cue up of clips actually seems clean and kinda quick.. mabye a second.. Do you think that as more files get added to it, it slows up the cue up process.. I only have 8 files on the doremi now..

AHHHHHH.. guys sorry to bother again. We had the file list with the Doremi working fine, however then today we upgraded the sony software to Version 8, and now the VDCP file list isnt working properly. I can see all of the files listed in the Doremi, but it wont load a file after hitting the Load button..   When i go into the port settings and try to alter some of them, and then go back into the device menu, i get an ERROR message.. However after hittng the file upgdate button, the files still list, but again i cant "load" any of them.
ahh so close but yet so far huh

Mike, I want to say that ver 8 added another menu option to the port settings..."idle delay" it is called i believe.  Try messing w/ this one.   We have a patch version of 7.21 that added this, and I seem to remember if I had it set to 0 it didnt work, so I had to have a value in there.  This is w/ an EVS, not a Doremi...but I would still give it a try.Curt

Out of curiosity, which model of the Doremi are you using?  The V1 or the MCS?

V-1 Doremi.. and curt nailed it with the idle delay... when we switch it to 0 it seems to work.. After changing it in the port setting, and then switch back to DEV, file list, I still get an error message (ONLY the first time you go into the file list after making a port setting change), but the files all list and load fine..

Mike,
Glad it worked, I knew it was something with a zero.

Mike,
Try these parameters on menu 7355 port setting.
Maximum Open delay  -> 7
Maximum Cueup delay -> 4
Play after cueup delay -> 5
Stop delay -> 2
Still delay -> 0
Continue delay -> 0
Set Name mode to Variable lenght
Set TC sense to zero based.
Good luck,

The first thing is to go to menu#7355 and chose which dev number you are using for the doremi. Make sure you have a 422 cable connected between the DCU and the doremi. Make sure you are on the right DCU and SCU (Usally #1). Chose VDCP from the list on the right and select device type set. Then chose port setting. Menu # 7355.4 will give you a series of choices for controlling the doremi. I don't know the numbers for the doremi, but Martin Riley should at Sony. Once you have entered them go to menu # 7325.4 and chose the dev you selected earlier and select it as the  file list dev so it will send the files to the switcher.That should get you going.... Jason SavittTennis Channel

Thanks guys for your responses.. Here's what i got.. All my setting on the switcher are correct; port settings match up too.. I'm still getting the "not connected" when i hit file list in the device menu..
If i change the doremi to vtr output and then go into the switcher settings and change them back to vtr; I can control it.. In Dev menu under timeline, i can test fire it and everything. This tells me that its properly connected to dcu correctly right?
I'm on version 7 of sony software on a 8K A model.. Do ya i think i need the next version of software to get this to work?

I finally got this to work, but went back to timecode.   Without looking there was a menu option I had to change, something to zero I think, will check later tonight.  I am assuming you have doremi on louth?
Once working I thought the control was very clunky.  When it recalls clips does some funky stuff, takes about 3 seconds to lock the new clip.  Also when cue clip to different timecode you had to add in a delay for the timecode cue, and it did not appear to cue with the clip cued (almost like heads dropped on a VTR).
But it did work.

Yes the doremi is in Louth.. I know the menu setting to change to zero that your talking about.. Another guy posted that and he helped me with that.
I looked at our 422 connection cable coming out of the doremi, its 9pin but only has 5 male pins.. Do you know if it has to the 9 males to fully make it work with receiveing the files.. Our engineering staff is confused on that..
I cant wait to get this to work and then see how bad this delay on the cue up is. hehehe..

I ddin't have time to look at it last night at work.  I will try and get it working and make note of what I did.

It's a standard RS422 connection using pins 2,3,4,7 & 8. The fact that it works in VTR mode verifys the cable is good.
