Could anyone offer the procedure to record media into a Spotbox and clip it(?) so the Lance can see the clips and the TD (me) can build cues?

I recently had the chance to play on a new switcher in a truck that was in a shop, but couldn't build timelines because there was nothing in the TD's Spotbox and no one knew how to load it so the Lance could recall clips.  I'm good on the Lance clip list mode.

I'm not looking to become a full-on EVS operator, just looking to be able to load the thing.

Thanks,

Chad

I use to be an EVS op if you have any questions let me know.

Ususally we load clips onto the spot box by Xfile, its the application that lets you load files from the removeable hard drives onto the XT servers, or you can just clip them, if the XT's are empty on an operators remote press "shift" (second button from the left on the top) then "Page" (bottom right button above the shuttle) this lets you pick what page is in use hit F1 for page one, then hit shift again and press F1 again this lets you select which bank is in use, now you can mark ins and outs and hit F1 to save it. For the next clip mark in and out and press F2 to save it. This is how you clip, once you fill up the first bank press "shift" then "F2" and your on the second bank, Once you've filled up all the banks 1-9 (bank 0 or F10 is used for playlist not clips) go to the next page "(shift" then page then "F2") and repeat.

On most OB trucks the EVS servers are setup to save a clip for every input when mark an in and out and clip it off. This can be changed by an engineer or a competant EVS operator.

hello,

Do the other evs chassis' on ther truck have clips on them.  If they do, easiest thing to do would be to copy over from that EVS.

F9 from the Spotbox DOS screen/keyboard....you will see the other EVS' on the network..

navigate to the EVS that has clips..hit enter..you are now looking at the other EVS' clips.

find clip on the evs.  CTRL+C ( Copy, just like on a PC)

F9..navgiate to your Spotbox and hit enter

Find where you want to put the clip on Spotbox

CTRL+V ( paste, just like on a PC)

Repeat for as many clips.

there are some shortcuts also, but above are the basic steps.

As to how to clip something off, it is easiest to do on the EVS's w/ controllers...the ones the operators use.

I could walk you through it, it would be easier on the phone.   Send me a message if I can help.

not an evs op, but know enough to be dangerous!
