Need advice on saving a show on one truck that can be used on another truck

I usually work with Kalypso and Kayenne switchers and I'm looking for a way to bring my shows on the sony 8000 to other trucks with sony 8000s.  Is there anything like the source patching on the grass valley switchers?  Everytime I get on a new truck I have to rename sources and map out the button layout from scratch and modify effects and snapshots to use the right sources.  Does anyone know an easier way?

Not easily, if you have the same number of cameras and resources in each truck you can make sure your main V/K table is identical in each truck. Macro's/Effects/Snapshots reference the main V/K table numbers, so if they match up you in business. Things don't have to be named the same, the name isn't used internally by the switcher to recall. Its a pain in the A$$ the first time setting it up, we make sure all our studios have a matching main V/K table so we can bring a directory from an studio into another.

From one Seth to another:

Truck-to-truck portability has always been the Achilles' heel for Sony switchers and trucks.  What we would consider as "user" settings are part of the ENG file, and transferring this between trucks can have disastrous results. It is being addressed, but no word on when a solution will be implemented.

As Hosko says, the closest thing to 'Source Patch' is the Main Video/Key Table (7322.5).  All other functions, including Table Button Assign, refer to this table.  When in your first truck, create a spreadsheet that lists where everything is in this table, and then recreate it in the 2nd truck.  You will still have to name your sources (7322.6), and map your tables, but you should not have to modify Effects, Snapshots, etc.

Odds are that you will want "Recall M/E Config" enabled in 7331.  This will ensure that your M/E Output Assign, PGM Config, and KPVW Config also follow from the original show. If using "MP2 Free Re-Entry", be sure  to enable it as well.  Other "gotchas": User 1- 8 Config, and any links.

Hi Seth,

So when saving, and more importantly, when recalling a file setup into another truck, what items do you include and not include so that you don't write over any important engineering file information?

THanks,

Mike
