Hello to all

This is my first topic

I am new here and also new to the Sony MVS 8000 G

I have some answers regarding making effects with timelines ..using also macro`s.

Now this is my problem.I have to do some sort of effect. Is for a news emmision, for the forecast part, after the initial starting kicker..let`s say i I want to specify the length of each news randomly,by triggering each news on each server, live On-Air

I have two servers..let`s say Airspeeds A and B.I have to do some sort of Macro and/or  Timeline, i think, using also GPI to trigger those servers.I wanna trigger from server A to server B with a Video/Key mask, similiar to a Clip Transition and viceverrsa from B to A and making that as simple as possible ,like put it on the Flexipad and press each time for switching that. But i have no idea how to start.Does not know much about how to insert GPI  into Timeline or inserting Macro ,too.Maybe is another way to do that, maybe not.Any suggestions appreciable.

Thanks in advance

Best regards

If you have direct machine-control to your servers, you can forego the building of an effect and trigger everything as a macro.

Select an empty macro & go into OFFLINE EDIT.  In your event list, you can choose to load a file onto a Device.  Then load a mask file onto the 2nd server.  You can then either put in a puse for a specific time to give the servers a chance to cue up or insert a pause of 0 so that it will wait until you press TAKE to continue the macro.

Then insert an event to PLAY the 1st server - the next step is the important one...instead of appending and putting in EVENT, use CONTINUE instead - then PLAY the 2nd server.

If you create a macro step by using EVENT, the macro will play back the previous step, then the "Event" step.  Using CONTINUE will cause this next step to happen at the same time as the previous step, so both channels will roll in-sync.

This way, you need just 1 button push to cue and playout your servers (add additional macro steps to turn on the keyer, and to undercut the background then turn off the keyer).  And because it's all a macro, you won't need to build an effect and/or tie it into a shot box.  If the timing isn't right on any step, you can edit it.

I normally prefer to go the macro route myself. I like to attach all my macros to key xpt's so I don't have to move my hands as far so normally try to stay away from 0 pauses in macros. You might prefer to build two macro's a cue up and a roll, you might not even need the cueup if your using MOS to put clips into the playlist on the AirSpeed. If you aren't using Countdown to control the AirSpeed as Bob said VDCP control is very nice and makes operating from the switcher that much easier. However if you have to use GPI's you still might want to use Macros. I always have roll GPI's for EVS on the utliity box as test fires.

I build every clip transition as macros and bury the roll gpi's (utility box activations). The default start of the desk is to have the GPI's disabled for all the outputs going to EVS and I have menu macros built to enable each EVS individually. That means if I get asked to transition to Delta (we use letters not colours over here) I just fire the macro to arm the GPI going to Delta and then use the standard transition. Takes a bit more building to prepare it but once your doing a show its very powerful. The last step of every clip transition is another menu macro that disables all the GPI's, sets the transition back to mix and 6f transition.

What about two Clip Transitions, wrapped in two Macros? You could create a GPI Effect (GPI Timeline) to trigger your servers and also add the GPI-Timeline Recall & Run to the two Macros.

When you want to create a GPI Timeline:

-Recall an empty Effect Register in the GPI-Region

-add a Keyframe to that timeline, add the GPI(out) you need, press MOD (or add it first an then press INS)

-add other GPIs(out) if you need to trigger more than one device, at the same time or with a small pause between the triggers (by using more than one Keyframe in your GPI-timeline)

-save the Effect Register (when AutoSave is off, otherwise it is saved automatically)

-finally add that timeline to the Macro
