I am doing a show on a truck that has K-2 servers instead of EVS.  I am not sure if the truck is using a lance to control the K-2 or the on-board Kayenne machine controls.  I have not had a chance to work on a truck that use the on-board machine controls yet.  Does anyone have a quick run down on how you use the machine controls in a timeline such as recall the clip and tell it to play.  Any info would be appreciated.

Hello Jimbam,

There might be an optional device control with the Kayenne, I never used it to build my timelines. I’m not in front of the switcher so the menu names might be different from what I write here.

In the Kayenne menu, go to device control, then timeline.

First keyframe: load your clip by clicking in the LOAD pane and choose your clip.

You can also set timecode, enable or disable loops on this keyframe.

Second keyframe should be PLAY.

That’s most of it.

You could do the same with macros, instead of going in the device control-timeline menu, go to device control-control.

I don’t know if you know much about K2, just a quick reminder: each channel has it’s own key channel which follows the V channel.

Hopefully your clips will already be in the server; if not, you can import them. We use .mov files, 32 bits, codec animation.

Or you record them from EVS or tape as you would  on a VTR.

I hope that helps!
